July 27, 2007 Report

We flew this past weekend from Arlington and it is really a great place to fly. While I was doing an Intro flight, Mike Lersbak, Arnie aka “Barney” and Don Oliver headed out to the Puget Sound Coast. The pattern is very easy to follow are there is plenty of open space to fly. You can even follow I-5 as there are plenty of space to do an emergency landing if you need to.

Besides flying, we finished moving all of the planes to the hangar and completed the doors to the hangar. It looks really nice and professional. We have placed the Six Chuter Sport Pilot Team banner right over the hangar and later we will put the Seattle Powerchutes and Powerchutes Gear logos.

Many thanks to Arnie “Barney”, John “Shadow’, Maurice, Mike “Auxx”, and Don “The Milk Man” for helping with hangar this past weekend.

This is definitely going to be a great place. We already met several pilots and they have been very helpful and very welcoming to the PPC guys.

Here are a few things to know:

1.      You can start early in the morning and I would even recommend being there by sunrise. The airpark is always open to fly.

2.      We have a Helium Tank – Always let a balloon go before you fly as some of the trees could be masking the wind speed and direction.

3.      If you fly for the first time from Arlington, please get a briefing from Mike so he can explain the pattern.

4.      Restroom facilities are available for men and women.

5.      If you come to the airpark without a trailer please park on the parking lot right by the entrance.

6.      If you have a trailer just let me know and we will find you a spot in the airpark. I am working with the owners to see if I can store several trailers in case you want to leave your plane there. Please let me know if you are interested soon so I can negotiate with the owners.

7.      If you would like to check on the possibility of getting your own hangar please let me know and I will check with the Airport Manager. The monthly cost is $89.

A few projects in the horizon:

1.      I will be working with the Airport to see if they can find us a little spot that we can put the computer and hook up to the internet for training.

2.      Hook up electricity to the hangar. Would be nice to be able to hookup the refrigerator.

3.      Check to see if we can use the water to wash our planes J

4.      Put outdoor carpet in the hangar

5.      Put our Logo on the outside of the building

6.      Take brochures to the Main airport office

Things to move from Snohomish to Arlington

1.      BBQ

2.      Couch (“oh, yeah  we have space”)

P.S. Why we call Arnie -> Barney? Let’s see: Purple Plane, Purple and Yellow Chute, and the name is just so close that it makes sense…
