Sept 4, 2007 Labor Day: Fly-in Report

What a great fly-in, while I wished that we had more PPC show up, the ones that came had a great time. We started early Friday morning and by 8:00 AM we had already launched 6 PPC. Shortly after 8AM, the crew from Channel 5 (King TV-Evening Magazine) stopped to go flying and do a short TV segment about the event. The TV segment, while short generated a lot of interest and we saw the Seattle Powerchutes website take on a lot of hits each day and even today, interest stills drawing people to the site.

I would like to thank George Brewer for arranging the Evening Magazine spot 'Man, you are really well connected...', Don Oliver and Mike Lersbak for working with me on intro flights, John (Shadow), Arnie (Barnie), Sally and Jay Lawyer (no-they are not lawyers), Mark Martin, Dusty Martin and Maurice for all of the help with the event. We could not have done it without your help. Last but not least, Barbara Tolbert and Bruce, thank you very much for allowing us to use the ultralight airpark for the event. You guys are just the best.

In total we had  about 13 planes and one pilot actually flew in from Snohomish. Each day we managed at least 4 hours of flight time and Monday we flew from 6AM to 1PM. We managed to help 3 pilots with N Number registration and hopefully they will become regulars at the Arlington Airport.

Saturday and Sunday we had a BBQ for the people present to include visitors to the show and everyone just had a great time. Talking to the Ultralight Center management, I can tell that they are very happy to have us there. While our planes are slow, we have managed to work with other ultralight planes in the airport and I am sure we will continue to do so.

Congratulations to Good Spaceguy for your 1st intro flight, Corey for 3 intro flights, Tim and Jo Medema for coming back and going back seat with me.

Now, let's see if we can do Memorial Day at Arlington :-)
